TIP News– Aug 11, 2020 – Five innovative start-ups selected to join TIP’s Ecosystem Accelerator Centers to address the disaggregation of global telecom infrastructures
A micro-datacenter edge compute start-up and a virtual private server provider are amongst a new cohort of five start-ups selected by the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) to join its German accelerator. Based in Berlin, the accelerator is part of a global program of telecoms specialist centers, termed TEAC (TIP’s Ecosystem Accelerator Centers) and runs in partnership with Deutsche Telekom and hubraum.
Over 120 startups from around the world applied to join this cohort. During a virtual pitch day held on the 29th July 2020 a panel of telecom industry experts heard from each and selected five to join the program. The cohort of five start-ups will now follow a 12-month program that will give access to an engineering-led environment where technology solutions and processes can be tested, hardened and improved, opening up further opportunities for investment and commercial traction. This is the second cohort to be selected by TEAC and addresses two timely developments in the telecoms industry: mobile edge compute and open radio access network. The five selected start-ups are:
Swim.ai

EdgeInfra
EdgeInfra provides neutral micro-datacenter and colocation services at the ultra-local edge of fixed and mobile network infrastructure in Europe. EdgeInfra’s micro-datacenters is a solution for edge computing, storage, and interconnection for content distribution and data-processing to the user for IoT as well as edge processing for traffic and mobility, gaming, digital health, and smart city platforms as and AI, AR, and VR applications.
Shoelace Wireless
An android app that speeds up mobile internet by combining Wi-Fi and cellular networks. The start-up develops cooperative networking technologies that enable a mobile user to aggregate all wireless networks available to a single mobile device and/or on multiple nearby devices. It uses a patented approach that is software-only and requires no changes to the current communication infrastructure.
Rapid.Space
Rapid.Space is aHyper Open cloud provider offering Virtual Private Servers (VPS), Content Delivery Network (CDN) and global IPv6 (SDN). Rapid.Space is a service of Nexedi SA, the largest publisher of Open Source / Free Software in Europe with 15 million lines of original source code.
