PRESS RELEASE
Barcelona, Spain, February 26, 2024 - Rapid.Space demonstrates at MWC 2024 its new EdgePOD N edge cloud server powered by Eindhoven-based NXP's Layerscape CPU. Combined with SlapOS open source edge cloud software platform developed by a team of 10 nationalities on 4 continents, the EdgePOD N is the first platform to meet 100% of the strictest regulations in Europe for digital sovereignty including French government's requirements for a digital infrastructure immune to monitoring by non European entities.
The EdgePOD product line is now available with a choice of China-based Hygon CPU (EdgePOD H), USA-based AMD CPU (EdgePOD R) and Europe-based NXP CPU (EdgePOD N), bringing unprecedented resilience and ubiquitous legal immunity despite ever expanding digital regulations. No matter where, no matter who, there is an EdgePOD that can be still used.
With 16 ARM A72 cores, 4 SFP+ 25 Gbps and 1 QSFP 100 Gbps network interfaces , the EdgePOD N based on SolidRun LX2160A Layerscape COM7 can power business applications, enterprise firewalls, ERP5 manufacturing execution system (MES), Amarisoft virtual radio access network (vRAN), Netframe digital workplace, Theia platform as a service (PaaS), Beremiz programmable logical controller (PLC), etc.
As any EdgePOD, it fits in an airplane cabin luggage, making it easy for consultants to bring it with them anywhere and deploy local edge services in no time. It is a plug-and-play appliance with fully automated operation, eliminating the need to hire a local team of IT experts. Three EdgePODs can form together a nearly indestructible mesh with automated mutual backup and disaster recovery. Built-in, latency-optimized application delivery network (ADN) eliminates cross-border congestion in countries such as China. Its mechanical design is open source to facilitate SKD manufacturing and technology transfer in any country.
