PRESS RELEASE
Barcelona, Spain, March 3, 2024 - Rapid.Space extends it multi-vendor vRAN through partnerships with five radio unit manufacturers (Broadradio, Comba, Comleap, NTS and Prose) in addition to its in-house designed ORS ONE platform. Rapid.Space plug-and-play BBU/DU/CU and edge computing server is now compatible with 151 different radio unit SKUs. It can cover most of the needs of tier-1 operators of 4G/5G networks from two channels to 72 channels, from 2 W to 320 W. Most radio units can be produced in any region (China, EU, US, Brazil, etc.) in order to comply with increasingly complex regulations.
Rapid.Space's EdgePOD BBU/DU/CU runs Amarisoft eNodeB/gNodeB/epc/5gc and SlapOS AI RAN for vRAN automation. It supports both CPRI (Split 8) and eCPRI (Split 8) standards. It is compatible with O-RAN yang models and Netconf. Each EdgePOD can act as a powerful edge server capable of running multiple edge services such as push-to-talk, video streaming, digital workspace, virtual machines, programmable logical controller, databases, EPR, MES, local AI inference, etc. Fully automated end-to-end testing is implemented for each radio unit in order to prevent regressions.

Rapid.Space's EdgePOD offers the choice between AMD (US), Hygon (CN) or NXP (EU) CPUs. Jean-Paul Smets, CEO of Rapid.Space concludes: "unlike other vendors, Rapid.Space technology is strictly software defined and is thus independent from any hardware vendor. It is entirely open source with the exception of Amarisoft stack which is licensed source. Rapid.Space can thus deliver the promise of digital independence and sovereignty for 4G/5G infrastructure in any country with competitive prices."
