Rapid.Space demonstrates 6G Ethernet fronthaul interface powered by mature RDMA standard
Rapid.Space announces the first successful implementation of a 6G fronthaul Ethernet interface based on RDMA protocol. Thanks to RDMA, a mature protocol implemented by multiple vendors of Ethernet network interface controllers (NIC) and widely used at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), fronthaul costs could be divided by at least two compared to CPRI. Also, RDMA does not have the design flaws of eCPRI in terms of cost and signal synchronisation.

Rapid.Space ORS now available in N77, N78, N79 and 100 MHz
Rapid.Space demonstrates at MWC 2024 a new version of Open Radio Station compatible with band N77. Hall 5 of the MWC 2024 was been entirely covered with 5G SA signal thanks to a single N77 ORS with low-gain antennae and under 1W power. A new version of ORS hardware featuring new proprietary 100 Mhz transceiver was displayed at Rapid.Space booth.

Towards interchangeable Radio Units
SlapOS vRAN suports multiple radio units from multiple vendors at the same time on each BBU. However, more effort is needed to ensure that all models of radio units can share a larger set of common parameters and promises for fault management in order to accelerate interchangeability on the field.

How to implement a resilient and distributed core network
Mobile IPv6 does not really exist because after Louis Pouzin created the Cyclades network in 1971, only one of its main ideas - the datagram - was kept by Vint Cerf in 1974 for TCP/IP. The other idea - indirection - which is now part of RINA network and provides a clean implementation of mobility on packet networks, was ignored. We describe below how to implement a limited form of indirection on IPv6 thanks to a routing protocol and how this can be used to achieve mobile IPv6 on a distributed 5G core network infrastructure. All ideas are the result of Juliusz Chroboczek's work.
